National Geographic has compiled the best travel photographs of 2013.

From Rome's Colosseum in the midst of rare snowfall to Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, these photos document some of the planet's most significant landmarks.

In this collection, photographer Agnieszka Rayss captured a summer solstice midnight party in Iceland's Blue Lagoon, while Cory Richards' photo showcases a panoramic view of Mouth Everest after the sun has set.

The images switch between busy urban environments to villages and remote areas of the Arctic, reaching all corners of the globe. Here are the 10 most spectacular images from 2013.
