10 incredible landscape shots have been shortlisted for the Velux Lovers of Light photography competition.

Entrants were asked to create a landscape image which celebrates and captures daylight. Open to amateur and professional photographers from across the world, six of the images shortlisted were taken across the UK.

Highlights include Graham Colling’s shot of the rising sun shining through trees in Newlands Wood, Cannock and Stephen Bank’s image of a technicolour winter sunrise in Dorset.

The winner will be announced at the end of march with the snapper of the best shot winning a trip to Norway - which will be made during the summer period when the country experiences 24 hour daylight.

Writer and broadcaster Tom Dyckhoff who is part of the judging panel said: The top 10 are so diverse but the one thing they all have in common is the creative and thought provoking way they’ve each thought about and played with daylight.

“As well as considering the composition and technical ability of each photograph, we also looked for emotion and feeling in each of the entries. We wanted to choose entrants who we felt had truly embraced and been inspired by natural light.”
