QPR will ban fans who pelted players

QPR have launched an investigation after Chelsea players were pelted by objects thrown from the crowd after Cesc Fabregas’s late winner in Sunday’s derby. “We take a zero tolerance approach to this sort of behaviour and, if the perpetrators are identified, they will be banned indefinitely,” Rangers said. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Under-19s beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 to win the Uefa Youth League final.

Boyce hat-trick earns County win

St Mirren edged closer to relegation from the Scottish Premiership after they were beaten 3-0 at home by fellow strugglers Ross County last night. Liam Boyce struck a hat-trick for in-form County, with the striker putting his side ahead before the break and completing his treble with two efforts late on. St Mirren played for over 40 minutes with 10 men, following Bulgarian defender Viktor Genev’s red card.

Chelsea handed City semi-final

Women’s Super League One leaders Chelsea will face Manchester City in the semi-finals of the FA Women’s Cup. Chelsea knocked out holders Arsenal on Sunday, while City beat Birmingham City. In the other tie, Everton take on Notts County after beating Charlton on penalties, while Notts thrashed Aston Villa 5-1. The semi-finals are on 3 May, while the 1 August final will be at Wembley.

Reade returns to GB track team

Three-time BMX world champion Shanaze Reade is returning to the velodrome to train with the Great Britain track team. British Cycling yesterday announced Reade would train with the track squad after returning to the UK, following a stint BMX racing in the United States. Reade will augment a squad which features Olympian Jess Varnish, Becky James and Victoria Williamson. British Cycling technical director Shane Sutton said: “This is good news as Shanaze is a terrific athlete with a big personality.”

Paris-Roubaix riders face action

The Paris-Roubaix riders who swerved around level-crossing barriers seconds before a high-speed train passed by on Sunday avoided race disqualification, but could face legal action after the French railway operator SNCF filed a complaint. “Several riders deliberately went through a level crossing, in violation of all safety regulations,” the company said.
