Mourinho Jr turns on Chelsea fans

Jose Mourinho’s 15-year-old son, Jose Mario Mourinho, has criticised Chelsea fans who booed midfielder Cesc Fabregas during the 1-1 draw with Southampton on Sunday. Posting on Instagram, Mourinho Jr said: “Why is everyone hating and blaming Fabregas for Sunday’s performance… It was a team effort.” He added: “I’ve seen bad Chelsea fans but Sunday was the worse I’ve ever seen.”

Allam can reapply for name change

Hull City will be able to make another attempt to change their name to Hull Tigers next season. The club’s owner, Assem Allam, wants to rebrand Hull but the name change was rejected by the Football Association Council last year. A tribunal has ruled the council’s decision be set aside because of the involvement of Football Supporters’ Federation chairman Malcolm Clarke on the subcommittee.

Uefa investigates Aurier over insult

PSG defender Serge Aurier is facing punishment for insulting a Champions League referee last week. Uefa’s disciplinary panel will meet on Thursday to judge a charge of “insulting acts”. On Facebook, Aurier appeared to call referee Björn Kuipers “a dirty son of a bitch” after PSG beat Chelsea on away goals. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, has apologised for his rant after PSG’s loss to Bordeaux.

Scotland’s double win halts slide

Scotland’s women produced the best possible response to a disappointing defeat on Sunday by picking up back-to-back wins at the World Championships in Sapporo.

Eve Muirhead, Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Sarah Reid were beaten by Denmark and Olympic champions Canada at the weekend, but came back fighting yesterday with wins over the United States and Norway.

The Scots beat the Americans 9-2 in just six ends. Norway proved much tougher opposition, before Scotland won 8-7.

Bekele pulls out of London Marathon

Ethiopian distance-running great Kenenisa Bekele has pulled out of next month’s London Marathon because of an Achilles tendon injury. Bekele, a multiple Olympic and world champion on the track, had been scheduled to make his debut in the race on 26 April. The 32-year-old said: “I desperately wanted to run in London this year.”
