A Lithuanian builder wanted on suspicion of stabbing to death a couple in their home in a rural village has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Viktoras Bruzas, 38, was stopped by officers while he was driving in Oxshott, Surrey, shortly before 6pm, Surrey Police said tonight.

A manhunt was launched after the bodies of Patrick and Gillian Kettyle, who were in their 50s, were found in Fetcham, Surrey at 12.30am by a member of the family, believed to be one of their teenage children.

Another man in his 30s who was arrested at a property in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey earlier today has been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

Bruzas, also from Walton-on-Thames, was known to the couple, police said, though officers have refused to comment on speculation that he was in a relationship with a secretary at Mr Kettyle's building company.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: “This is a tragic incident which has shaken the close community in Fetcham. I hope the arrest this evening goes some way to reassure the public that we have been relentless in our efforts during this fast-moving and on-going investigation.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who assisted with the search of Viktoras Bruzas including members of the public and the media.”

Police were called to The Copse, a quiet street of detached houses in Fetcham, at around 12.30am.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the victims are believed to be Mr and Mrs Kettyle, who lived at the property.
