A former NHS employee has been arrested by detectives investigating alleged corrupt payments to public officials.

The 52-year-old woman was arrested at 6am at her home address in Derbyshire for suspected misconduct in a public office, Scotland Yard said.

She is being interviewed at a police station in Derbyshire.

Her arrest is the 70th under Operation Elveden, Scotland Yard's investigation into alleged payments to public officials, which is running in conjunction with Operation Weeting, the Met's phone-hacking inquiry.

Today's arrest follows two earlier this week when serving prison officers aged 52 and 26 were detained on Tuesday and released on bail.
