American actress Koo Stark is set to launch legal action in the US against Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.

Stark believes she was a victim of phone hacking at the News of the World and has instructed Milly Dowler family lawyer Mark Lewis to represent her.

Her case will join five others that will be heard in the US. Norman Siegel, who has represented families of victims of the September 11 attacks, is representing some of the cases.

The move to the US will be hugely uncomfortable for Murdoch, whose headquarters are based in New York, and will further fuel international attention on the scandal.

Stark was of great interest to British tabloids after she began an 18-month relationship with Prince Andrew in 1982. She was contacted by Scotland Yard after her name was found in the notebooks of Glen Mulcaire, the private investigator hired by the NOTW.
