Man, 18, held over body at observatory

An 18-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of murder after the body of a young woman was discovered in undergrowth near a disused observatory.

Police found the girl, believed to be a teenager, next to Bidston Hill Observatory, near Birkenhead, Merseyside, on Saturday evening after being alerted by a member of the public.

The unnamed suspect, from nearby Moreton, remained in custody last night.
