Man charged with murdering 100-year-old mother

A man appeared at the Old Bailey today accused of killing his 100-year-old mother.

Michael Fitzgibbon, 61, of Hainton Close, Stepney, east London, is charged with murdering Hannah Fitzgibbon.

Mrs Fitzgibbon died from a stab wound to her neck on February 24 at the terraced home she shared with her unemployed son.

Fitzgibbon was remanded in custody for a plea and case management hearing on June 4. There was no bail application.
