A 60-year-old man injured after being hit by a trolley during an alleged altercation in December has died, police said.

Michael Buckley, from Forest Hill, south London, was left with a broken hip and wrist after the incident on December 22 in Bromley.

He suffered further health complications and died on Tuesday, Scotland Yard said. A post-mortem examination took place yesterday and further medical examination to establish the cause of death is continuing.

The circumstances around Mr Buckley's death are being investigated by Scotland Yard's Homicide and Serious Crime Command, the force said.

Police were called to the Marks and Spencer store in The Glades shopping centre, Bromley, at 1pm on December 22 after reports that a man was injured during an altercation.

A spokesman said it is understood that he was struck with a trolley being pushed by a woman.

He fell to the ground, suffering injuries including a broken hip and wrist, and was taken to a Kent hospital for treatment.

On Boxing Day police were told he was in a critical condition after suffering further health complications.

A 30-year-old woman arrested on the same day on suspicion of grievous bodily harm has been bailed to return in late March.
