A man has been killed and several people wounded following an alleged attack involving an axe and knife in Plymouth.
Police have described the incident as a "major disturbance" and are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a number of callers reported seeing a man in possession of a knife and an axe.
A 27-year-old man was found seriously injured at the scene at The Kings Arms in Tamerton Foliot, Plymouth at around 1.30am this morning.
Two other men were taken to the hospital with knife injuries, police said, and detectives are treating the death as suspicious.
Officers said an axe had been recovered from the scene and that two men, aged 20 and 21, both from Plymouth, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Devon and Cornwall Police said both suspects are being detained at Charles Cross Police Station in Plymouth.
A police spokesperson said that while an axe was found, officers searching the area had been unable to locate the knife reportedly used in the incident.
They appealed to residents in the area to "keep an eye out for anything discarded in their bins or gardens that seems suspicious".
Detective Superintendent Jim Colwell, said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who was in the Tamerton Foliot area between 1 -2am this morning to contact the police.
"We have established a cordon at Station Road to assist with scene investigation and our officers will be active in the area throughout the day conducting enquiries.
"Please speak to us, call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously if you have any information that could help us with our enquiries."
