Ram-raiders smash Mercedes through doors of Gucci's Sloane Street store

Ram-raiders have used a Mercedes to smash their way into Gucci's flagship London store in Kensington.

A black Mercedes, which is believed to have been stolen, reversed into the store on Sloane Street at about 21:50 GMT on Wednesday.

A number of suspects, possibly three, fled the scene with handbags from the store before fleeing in a blue Audi A4.

No arrests have yet been made.

Gucci describe the store on their website as a "flagship boutique" that covers 20,000 square feet on two floors.

It adds: "An impressive 60-metre facade looking on to London's famed Sloane Street captures attention through the use of tone-on-tone bronze metal enhanced with a special LED lighting affect." It opened more than 20 years ago.

The high-end fashion retailer stocks handbags that sell for more than £2,000 and women's shoes that can cost upwards of £700.
