A 13-year old girl has been reprimanded by police for slapping a supermarket employee in the face with a fish.

The girl has been ordered to write a letter of apology as part of a community resolution.

The incident took place at an Asda supermarket in Accrington, Lancashire, on 4 February.

The 52-year old victim was working behind the fish counter when she was approached by the young woman, who began to inquire about the different types of fish available.

Without warning, the girl picked up a large bream from the fish stall and slapped the employee across the face before running out of the store.

Lancashire police released CCTV of the attack and eventually tracked down the girl. The investigation is now closed.
