Three arrested after fatal stabbing of 14-year-old boy in Lee

Three teenagers were arrested yesterday after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death as he got off a bus in south London.

Police said the victim – Kevin Ssali –died in hospital after the stabbing in Burnt Ash Road, Lee, on Saturday evening.

The attack took place in the same part of the capital as the killing of 16-year-old Jimmy Mizen four years ago. Yesterday, his father, Barry Mizen told the BBC: "It came as a great shock because it's a few hundred yards away from where Jimmy was stabbed. Our hearts go out to the family."

Three males, believed to be in their teens, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in custody at a south London police station.

Initial reports suggest the victim, whose next-of-kin have been informed, was travelling on a 202 bus through Lee Green towards Charlton.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Dunne said: "I am appealing for anyone who travelled on the route 202 bus on its way through the Lee area just before 9.45pm on Saturday night to speak to my officers. Did you witness an altercation or argument involving a group of male youths? I would also like to speak to anyone who was in Burnt Ash Road, where the victim got off the bus."
