Police hunting the killers of a teenager gunned down outside a pub have arrested two more people in connection with his death.

Malakai McKenzie, 19, was shot in the car park of The Hubb pub in Sherwood, Nottingham, in the early hours of April 21.

Detectives believe he suffered the fatal injuries in a firearms incident in the car park of the pub, in Hucknall Road, at about 3.30am.

A 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, from the Long Eaton area, were arrested yesterday afternoon, on the A42 near Birmingham, on suspicion of assisting an offender, a spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said.

They are now in police custody in Nottinghamshire.

Last week two other people, aged 19 and 17, were arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Heydon, senior investigating officer, said: "While clearly our main focus is arresting those responsible for the murder of Mr McKenzie, we will pursue and arrest anyone who we suspect of assisting or harbouring offenders.

"Anyone with any information, whether you witnessed the incident or know who is responsible, please come forward.

"You can be assured you and your information will be treated in the utmost confidence."

More than 60 officers are dedicated to investigating the murder of Mr McKenzie, who was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre with serious injuries during the early hours of April 21. He died later that day.

A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that he died from a gunshot wound.

A number of addresses have been searched and vehicles seized by police.

Forensic examinations are also being fast-tracked to ensure vital evidence is analysed and collated as soon as possible.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 0115 844 6913, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
