Two women found dead in Southport house

Police are investigating after two women were found dead at a house.

Merseyside Police were called to the address in Fairhaven Road, Southport, at around 5.45pm yesterday where the bodies of a woman in her 50s and a woman in her 70s were found.

Officers are treating the deaths as unexplained and post mortem examinations will take place to establish the cause.

A spokesman said: "Merseyside Police is investigating the unexplained death of two women in Southport.

"Officers were called to Fairhaven Road at around 5.45pm yesterday after receiving a report that two women had died.

"At this stage the cause of death of the women, aged in their 50s and 70s, has not been established and it is being treated as unexplained.

"Inquiries are on-going and post mortem examinations will take place next week."
