A5 latest: Motorists told to avoid scene of major milk spillage after road closures
'Heads up, if you're heading onto the A5 at Chirk this morning. Bring your Cornflakes'
The Welsh government traffic service are advising motorists to avoid one of the busiest roads in north Wales after six cages of milk were spilled.
An “extensive clean up” operation involving four fire engines took around three hours to complete after the milk tanker transporting the dairy product overturned.
The Welsh government motorway and trunk road information service announced that the bypass had been reopened around 8.30am on Monday, but it warned that long delays were ongoing and advised motorists to avoid the area.
Emergency services were called to the scene just before 6am, and police closed the A5 Chirk in both directions.
North Wales Police warned of long delays and heavy traffic in the area.
“Heads up, if you're heading onto the A5 at Chirk this morning,” tweeted Traffic Update. “Bring your Cornflakes.”
