CCTV footage shows woman repeatedly punched in the face in Brick Lane pub garden

Police are investigating the assault in which the attacker punched and kicked his female victim

Police investigating an assault on a woman in a Brick Lane pub garden have released footage of the attack in which it appears a man repeatedly strikes his victim in the face.

The video shows the man grappling with his victim against a locked gate before he repeatedly strikes the woman with his right hand.

Police say the 27-year-old woman had met the man in Westminster before they both went to the pub in Brick Lane. The pub was shut but the garden area open; and when the woman decided to leave, the man proceeded to attack her.

The woman was eventually able to push the man away and run off down Brick Lane. Police say she suffered minor injuries.
