Chief prosecutor, Keir Starmer, ready to step down
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Keir Starmer, is to step down from the job at the end of his five-year term in October.
Mr Starmer, 50, could have extended his term but said: "It has been a huge privilege to have led the Crown Prosecution Service for the past four-and-a-half years. I have enjoyed my time very much and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on the important work of the CPS until my term of office ends."
