Guildford car crash: Woman dies after Land Rover careers into pedestrians in town centre

A woman has died after a 4x4 careered into a number of pedestrians.

The victim, aged in her 30s, was declared dead at the scene in Bridge Street, Guildford, Surrey.

The crash happened after a grey Land Rover Defender left the road just before 1.30pm on Saturday, Surrey Police said.

Another pedestrian, a man in his 40s, suffered pelvic injuries and has been taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, London.

A third person, a woman aged in her 30s, sustained minor injuries. The Land Rover driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

The road remains closed at the junction with Farnham Road while crash investigators carry out inquiries, a police spokesman said.

He said: “The road is expected to remain closed for several hours and motorists and pedestrians are being advised to avoid the area until further notice.”

Witnesses were urged to call officers on 101 or the Surrey Police collision investigation unit on 01483 639922.
