A man has died after collapsing at the Creamfields dance music festival.

The 26-year-old from Cornwall was discovered collapsed in a campsite at the event near Warrington, Cheshire Police have said.

He was found around midnight but emergency services were unable to save him.

Formal identification has yet to take place and police are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Last night we were notified following concerns for a man in one of the campsites and, sadly, a 26-year-old man from the Cornwall area passed away.

"Formal ID is to take place and we are awaiting the results of the post mortem examination to establish the cause of death. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

Police have reminded revellers that the supply of illegal drugs to the festival "will not be tolerated".

The spokesman added: "Officers continue to take positive action against those who risk others' lives by attempting to bring illegal drugs onto site."
