A charity worker from Wales produced a wedding video for his bride-to-be that included messages from all her favourite celebrities – and the results are extraordinary.

Steven Williams, 29, might not be thanked for setting the bar so high with his 12-minute masterpiece, which contains words of advice and congratulations from actors, Welsh rugby stars, comedians and TV presenters.

He spent a year producing the video for bride-to-be Ceri, secretly contacting the celebrities two or three at a time through a dedicated Twitter account.

“Unlikely enough, quite a few of them followed me and asked what it was all about,” he told the BBC.

Each star was approached because of the particular role their work played in the couple’s lives. They included the TV presenter Jonathan Ross, their favourite comedians Jimmy Carr, Matt Lucas and Steward Francis, Everton manager Roberto Martinez, the Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson, Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss and Breaking Bad star Betsy Brandt.

The video starts off conventionally enough, with Steven saying he will sing Ceri’s favourite song from Les Misérables, “Confrontation”. But after a couple of lines, he is interrupted by the Welsh musical theatre legend John Owen-Jones – and from there the celebrity appearances come thick and fast.

Ceri, 27, from Llanelli, said: “He told me he was going to do something but I didn't know it was going to be such a surprise.

“I thought it was amazing and I couldn't believe it. But 10 minutes later it was still on, I was absolutely stunned.”

The pair are now enjoying a honeymoon in the US – and their video has been shared thousands of times across Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
