Prince William, a flight lieutenant in the RAF, is to be posted to the Falkland Islands next year to carry out helicopter search and rescue operations, the Ministry of Defence announced.
The six-week deployment will take place next year and might coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War, which would be likely to sour relations with Argentina, which claims ownership of the islands. In 1982 Argentina invaded before being kicked off in a bloody conflict.
