RSPCA appeals for information after man is captured on dashcam video punching a dog

Footage released by the RSPCA shows a man repeatedly punching the dog and waving towards the camera

The RSPCA has appealed for information following an incident which occurred on Sunday at 5pm in Margate, Kent in which a man was caught on camera punching a dog.

A member of the public, who had parked their car on the seafront in Newgate Lower Promenade, reported hearing cries from a dog before seeing a man leading the dog away.

When they returned to their car, they found their dashcam had recorded the man approaching the dog and punching it repeatedly around its head and face as it flinched away.

The incident was reported by the owner of the car the following day, who said the footage had been recorded just after 5pm, noting that the time on the dashcam is incorrect.

Deborah Pert, who is investigating the case, said “It’s very concerning to see this footage and I have concerns about the welfare of this dog.

“It is not acceptable to punch a dog, either as punishment or discipline. It is never acceptable to be violent towards an animal and I’m keen to trace this individual.
