A seven-year-old girl was killed and two adults seriously injured after a car crash in Greater Manchester.

The adults, a 35-year-old man and a woman, 23, were travelling in a car with the girl when it was involved in a collision with another car on a road near Bredbury at about 4.30pm on Sunday.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a 31-year-old man and two children, aged 9 and 11, sustained minor injuries.

Pc Paul Hailwood, of Greater Manchester Police, said the cause of the crash was still being investigated.

“A young girl has tragically lost her life and we are supporting the family at this very difficult time,” he said.

“It is very early stages but we are in the process of piecing together the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision to speak to police.”
