Thieves steal £18,000 worth of gin from roadside lorry
Northamptonshire police said 1,000 bottles of Bombay Sapphire gin were stolen from the vehicle
Thieves have stolen £18,000 worth of gin from a lorry parked at the side of the A14 in Northamptonshire, police have said.
More than 1,000 bottles of the spirit were stolen from the vehicle while it was parked in a lay-by between junctions two and three of the eastbound carriageway.
Police believe a van was used to steal the pallet of 700ml bottles sometime between 8pm on 19 February and 5am the following day.
Gordon Badcock from Northamptonshire Police’s Crime Investigations Bureau said: “This was a substantial amount of gin that was stolen and we would ask anyone who is offered cheap bottles of Bombay Sapphire, or who knows anything about this theft, to get in touch with us.”
