The veterinary charity PDSA has released pictures of the seventeen contenders for its annual animal slimming competition, Pet Fit Club. We’ve highlighted three of the contenders in the competition, now in its tenth year.

11-year old Rottweiler Hooch weighs thirteen stone - about the same as the average man in the United Kingdom. It makes Hooch the heaviest animal the PDSA has ever entered in the contest.

Rescue cat Boycus weighs more than double what he should and is considered morbidly obese.

Rolo, a pug, is the only candidate hailing from the Capital. He weighs in at 13 kilograms – 4 kilograms over the healthy weight.

The competitors will embark on a strict diet and exercise regime, with the pet that has lost the biggest percentage of body weight being crowned the winner. The PDSA is the UK's leading veterinary charity, and operates 51 pet hospitals and 380 practices across the country.
