The two-bedroom property in Barnsbury, North London, has three floors, a garden and is located close to central Underground stations, including King’s Cross St Pancreas.

However, the biggest room in the house, the master bedroom, measures just 8ft 8in wide and 14.6 ft long, while a study is just under 5ft wide. The property is described by Foxtons estate agent as a “stylish two bedroom period house” which offers “well-proportioned space throughout”.

The listing comes amid a growing housing crisis, with lower income residents in London among those being forced to move further and further into the edges of the capital as prices soar.

A pertinent example of this was the 64-bedroomed Georgian stately home in Shropshire that went on sale for less than a two-bedroomed flat in west London, where the average flat typically goes on sale for up to £3 million.

Housing has become a key issue ahead of the general election, with the Conservatives pledging to extend the right-to-buy scheme to families living in 1.3 million housing association properties. The scheme has prompted fears the affordable housing stock will be vastly diminished, forcing more people out of the city.
