Woman plunges 100ft to her death at Neist Point

A woman has died after falling from a cliff and plunging 100ft at a popular tourist location on the Isle of Skye.

The 48-year-old was walking with her husband at Neist Point when she fell over the edge, local media reported.

Emeregency services were called at 4pm on Saturday when her husband raised the alarm and the woman was taken to Broadford Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Neist Point is the most westerly point of the Isle of Skye and is renowned world-wide for its rock formations, making it a popular tourist attraction.

A Stornoway Coastguard spokeswoman said: “We received a request from ambulance control for assistance to a female who had fallen 100 feet.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that the woman had died.
