Boris Johnson: London property should not be sold at 'Suites in the Far East' - The London Live interview

London Mayor Boris Johnson has said London’s property sites should not be “flogged in suites in the Far East”.

“Homes should be marketed first to Londoners and if possible sold first to Londoners,” Johnson said during an interview on LondonLive, airing this evening.

“I understand the argument you need international investment to get stuff moving,” Johnson said, citing Battersea as one example. “But in the end cannot have sites like that being flogged in suites in the Far East.”

Despite the comments, Johnson appeared to try and claw back his somewhat inflammatory remarks made during the Conservative party conference, and apparently also directed at foreign investment.

Johnson faced criticism from the British Property Federation (BPF) after his speech. The federation warned the mayor against scaring off foreign investment.
