Former MP to promote fur trade

The former Liberal Democrat MP Mark Oaten, who resigned from Parliament after cheating on his wife with a rent boy, has taken a job promoting the fur trade.

Mr Oaten, 47, is the chief executive of the Inter-national Fur Trade Federation, which is based in Surrey. The anti-fur pressure group Peta called the move a "disgrace".

In 2006 Mr Oaten was embroiled in a sex scandal. He stood down before the 2010 election and the Conservatives won his Winchester seat.

Mr Oaten, who voted against the 2004 fox-hunting ban, said: "I am very proud to be joining such a successful and historic trade."
