Ukip may have published a professional-looking manifesto but a closer look at the document exposes an amateur gaffe.

The party’s education spokesman Paul Nuttall is pictured posing in a library, but the backdrop of books contains fake books, with duplicate copies photoshopped in to make him appear more educated.

A closer inspection of the backdrop reveals many duplicate books

The North West MEP poses in thick-rimmed glasses gripping a book titled ‘British Rebels and Reformers,’ a book published in 1942 and described on Amazon as an illustrated picture book.

The rows of books contain many duplicates which have been photoshopped into the picture. Mr Nuttall tried to make light of the gaffe, responding to the scores of jokes ridiculing him on Twitter that he simply owned two copies of every book.

It is an embarrassing mistake for a party that campaigns against the PR-obsessed mainstream political parties and claims to be the only genuine party of the election.
