Did Stop The War really call for the west to go to war with Israel?

This image has been circulating widely on Twitter.

But did the Stop The War coalition really call for a new military conflict against Israel?

Put simply, no.

The anti-war group did host an article from Richard Falk, a professor emeritus of international law at Princeton and currently the United Nations Human Rights Council's special rapporteur in the Palestinian territories.

But while an often vocal critic of Israel's actions, Professor Falk does not actually argue for an actual war with the country, rather what he terms a "legitimacy war", likened to Gandhi's nonviolent victory over British colonial rule and South Africa's anti-apartheid movement.

Prof Falk was also writing in May, well before the latest Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Stop The War did however publish the article with the inflammatory headline, which shows that even anti-war groups can be guilty of clickbait.
