The business secretary has told mobile phone network O2 to “sort it out” after customers complained that their phones had no signal.

Sajid Javid, who was appointed to his post in the post-election cabinet reshuffle, tweeted: “No signal [at] O2. Please sort it out.”

Customers took to social media to complain of poor signal in areas across the country yesterday.

As of this morning some users on social media said their signal was restored, while others complained that the problem was still on-going.

The company says the problem has been "minimised".

“Some customers experienced some problems accessing our network,” a spokesperson said. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to those customers affected and we will now begin a full investigation to identify the root cause.”

The company is telling users on the social network Twitter to reboot their phone if signal is not yet restored for them.
