Simon Danczuk’s first wife has threatened to change their daughter’s name following claims he bombarded a 17-year-old girl with sexually explicit messages.

Sonia Rossington sent him a text message on Thursday telling him to “stop stripping yourself of any further dignity” and to “stop embarrassing” their two children after he was suspended by the Labour party due to reports in The Sun newspaper that he had sent a 17-year-old Sophena Houlihan numerous “graphic” texts after she enquired about a job in his local constituency office.

Describing him as "a thoroughly despicable man”, Ms Rossington said his behaviour was causing problems for their 18-year-old son at university.

Speaking to Rochdale Online, she said: "My God, what is he doing? He has a daughter not much younger than the girl he wants to 'spank', and his 18-year-old son has enough problems at university due to sharing the Danczuk name.

“Why can he not think of his children and the devastating effect his selfish antics have on them? It has been one thing after another after another, will it ever end?

“Will he ever stop and think about the damage he is doing to his children?”

In her text to Mr Danczuk, Ms Rossington wrote: "Can you please stop embarrassing them, they are children growing up with your surname. If you resort to stripping yourself of any further dignity, I will change your daughter's surname, if only to protect her against your stupidity."

Protest outside Simon Danczuk's office

Explaining how she was "married to him for a long time" and knew "the way he operates," Ms Rossington predicted Mr Danczuk would seek to repair his reputation by "plotting a tear jerking television interview" but urged the Labour party to "see him for what he really is: a thoroughly despicable man".

She added: "We can expect the usual insincere apology, but nothing ever changes with Simon, he thinks he can get away with anything, and up to now he has,"
