Vince Cable appears to be spending much of his newfound free time trying to personally thank everyone who voted Lib Dem.

The former Business Secretary, who represented Twickenham for 18 years before losing his seat in the election, spent six hours yesterday thanking his supporters on Twitter,

And he’s continued to do the same today. Here's just a selection of the 150-plus tweets he has already sent:

Mr Cable lost his seat on the day of his birthday to Tania Mathias, who called him “an amazing MP who had served Twickenham for 18 years.”

His seat was one of the 49 lost by the Liberal Democrats, including four cabinet ministers in an election which saw the Conservatives achieve a majority for the first time since 1992.
