Undercover footage has emerged that allegedly shows senior peer Lord Sewel snorting cocaine with prostitutes while bragging about his £200 daily allowance.

The former Labour minister has stepped down as the House of Lords deputy speaker and chairman of the Lords privileges and conduct committee, following the Sun on Sunday’s investigation.

The footage allegedly shows Sewel snorting cocaine using a bundle of £5 notes.

When asked about his £200 daily allowance, the 69-year old replies “it’s not for lunch lovie darling, it’s paying for this.”

As the evening continues, the senior peer remarks: “We could do with some nice little young Asian lady I would’ve thought tonight. But never mind… They sort of look innocent but you now they’re whores."

In a recent blog for the Huffington Post, Sewel outlined new, stronger sanctions to be imposed on politicians to ‘deal with behaviour that breaches the Code of Conduct’.

‘The actions of a few damage our reputation. Scandals make good headlines.’

Lord Speaker Baroness D’Souza announced yesterday she will be referring Lord Sewel to the Metropolitan Police for investigation.

“Today’s revelations about the behaviour of Lord Sewel are both shocking and unacceptable… The House of Lords will continue to uphold standards in public life and will not tolerate departure from these standards.”
