Detectives investigating the murder of schoolgirl Sarah Payne have re-arrested a man in connection with the inquiry.
The man re-arrested today was Roy Whiting, 41, although police refused to confirm his identity.
He was arrested in Crawley, and taken to an undisclosed police station in Sussex for further questioning by officers.
Eight-year-old Sarah is believed to have been abducted from a field near her grandparents' home near East Preston, West Sussex, on July 1.
Her naked body was found dumped in a field beside the A29 near Pulborough exactly two weeks ago today.
Police now have up to 96 hours to question the man before he must be charged or released.
Detective Superintendent Peter Kennet, who is now leading the inquiry, said: "Just because someone's arrested it doesn't mean to say that they will be charged."
It is understood that the decision to arrest the man was taken two days ago and Sarah's parents Michael and Sara have been told of the arrest.
