An unidentified man found wandering topless through north London with serious burn injuries remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The unidentified individual was picked up by police at around 11pm last night walking in Woodberry Grove, Hackney, suffering from serious burns to his neck and torso.

It remains unclear how the man, found wearing nothing but jeans and black trainers, obtained the injuries.

London Ambulance Service took him to hospital. The Met Police report that the man remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the man, thought to be between 25 and 30-years-old and who 5ft 11ins tall, speaks very little English.

Officers believe the man may be of Turkish or Albanian origin and are appealing for any family or friends to contact them.

Police would also like to speak with a person who is believed to have spoken to the burned man earlier in the evening at Seven Sisters Road, opposite the junction with Amhurst Park. The individual is thought to have left and walked in the direction of Woodberry Grove.

Anyone with information, or who is concerned for the welfare of a friend or family member who matches the description, should contact police via 101.
