Video shows alpacas being attacked with garden chairs and chased with a broken chair leg at Lancashire nursing home
Police called the attack 'unprovoked and mindless and a 'disgrace'
CCTV footage shows a night-time raid that saw two men attack two alpacas at an enclosure in Haslingden, Lancashire.
The video shows two men removing some garden chairs at around 10:15pm on August 4 and throwing them at the two alpacas, named Bill and Ben. They also threw a wooden bench at the animals, with one of the men chasing the alpacas around their enclosure with a broken chair leg.
Lancashire Police called the attack "unprovoked and mindless" and a "disgrace". They added, "Bill and Ben are there for the elderly residents to enjoy and this sort of behaviour is simply intolerable. It beggars belief that anyone would find this amusing."
The alpacas, which live at the Danesmoor Nursing Home, were not hurt in the attack after being check over by vets. The two brothers have lived at the home since they were babies and have now been there for five years.
Community Beat Manager Pc Claire Scott said: "If you know anything at all about this or recognise the men in the CCTV then please contact us."
