Yodel issues statement after video shows Christmas presents carelessly thrown into branded lorry by delivery men
Fingers crossed it’s not your Christmas gifts.
Video has emerged showing delivery men carelessly throwing Christmas presents into the back of a Yodel-branded lorry.
Some of the gifts completely miss the lorry and fall onto the road, later retrieved by the worker who chucks it in the back.
The footage was recorded by a passerby in Birmingham and posted on Twitter – the video has now been retweeted 4,500 times.
Benr_1985 tweeted the video with the caption: @YodelOnline how would you feel if these were your Xmas presents Yodel? Filmed in Bham this afternoon #disgrace.
Yodel has issued a statement in reply.
“We are aware of a video circulating on social media which shows a company unloading their vehicle and throwing parcels into a Yodel branded van.”
“We would like to stress and reassure our customers that our investigations show that the company shown is handling light foam cushions and fold out beds. No items were damaged.”
“Our own colleagues are trained to never throw a parcel, and any allegation of this nature is treated very seriously and appropriate disciplinary action taken.”
Yodel's client, Boxify, released a statement yesterday.
“We would like to confirm that the video showing a member of our staff transferring foam filled cushions from one of our vehicles onto a Yodel vehicle did not result in any damage to products.”
“The items we supply to other businesses are filled cushions and soft furnishings which are very light weight and are hand loaded onto vehicles all year round with no chance of damage.”
“However, we would not like to see products being handled in a rough manner and as a result we have disciplined the temporary member of staff involved and asked the despatch manager to review loading procedures and to retrain any members of staff involved in loading to be more careful in future.”
