As wedding proposals go, this one could take some beating.

A former Scottish Premier League footballer gave his partner the ultimate surprise on Friday, when he brought New York’s Times Square to a standstill with an amazing flash mob proposal.

Sean Murdoch, who trains with US football team New York City FC, popped the question to his now fiancée Charissa Ferguson with the elaborate proposal in New York’s most famous square.

Speaking to Scottish newspaper The Daily Record, the former Hibernian goalkeeper said that he was happy with how it turned out and that he was relieved to see Ferguson say yes.

He said: “I’m delighted. I was just trying to think outside the box and had some ideas, so I reached out to Broadway Dance Centre and they came up with the dance.”

Adding: “I had a good idea she’d say yes but I was nervous. Once I started dancing I totally loved it.”

The video has already proved a massive hit on the internet since being uploaded on 19 December, with the video being viewed over 60,000 times in just two days.
