The most important women in history have been chosen by a poll.

BBC History Magazine asked its readers about which women they thought had changed the world most significantly.

Marie Curie came out on top, closely followed by civil rights activist Rosa Parks.

Along with those two, the pollsters came up with a list of 20 women. Now, as most of these women are from Europe and America, it is by no means exhaustive or definitive.

Nevertheless, it's a celebration of women in history, and we can always use those.
