Robert Mugabe has returned home from a month long holiday, after dismissing reports that he had collapsed and suffered a heart attack.

Reports circulated that the Zimbabwean President had suffered a heart attack last week, during a month-long holiday in the Far East. His office denies that any such health issues have occurred.

Mr Mugabe was depicted on state television arriving at Harare Airport with his wife and security aides last night.

He has previously dismissed reports that he is suffering from declining health, assuring reporters that he is “fit as a fiddle.”

Mr Mugabe, who turns 92 on 21 February, is the only president that the country has ever known. In 2014, he was re-elected as leader of ZANU-PF for another five years.

This means he will automatically be the party’s presidential candidate in the 2018 general elections.

The party is deeply divided over who will eventually succeed him.
