Ecuadorian army plane crashes in jungle killing all 22 people on board
'There are no survivors,' wrote Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa on social media
An Ecuadorian army plane crashed in the jungle killing all 22 people on board, the country’s President Rafael Correa has said.
"There are no survivors," Mr Correa wrote on Twitter, several minutes after first posting news of the crash.
He said the plane was carrying 19 paratroopers, two pilots and a mechanic, when the aircraft went down in the Pastaza province of the country’s Amazon region.
Defence Minister Ricardo Patino said he was on his way to the scene. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
