One tweet from Fox News caught a lot of attention this weekend.

“News Alert: @POTUS spending weekend working at the White House,” the cable network tweeted on Sunday.

Social media users were quick to point out that the President travelled twice to a golf resort in Virigina over the weekend.

He went once on Saturday for just over four hours to hold “meetings” and once on Sunday for about an hour.

On Saturday evening he was back in Washington DC and had dinner at the nearby Trump International Hotel.

The press pool, which follows the President’s movements, was only told that Mr Trump was having meetings and was not given more detail.

Speculation swirled that the President was playing golf for the 12th time since he took office after multiple pictures surfaced on the Internet of the President wearing his red cap and golfing gear.

Fox News could not be immediately reached for comment.

“Multiple photos show Trump golfing this weekend. Good thing gas is so cheap since @FoxNews lights so much of it,” one user wrote.

“Is that what you said when POTUS was insulting Obama for golfing? Remember POTUS said he'd be too busy to golf?” wrote another.

The President wrote multiple tweets accusing Barack Obama of slacking off work to play golf.

Similar accusations were made by now Press Secretary Sean Spicer, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Trump advocate and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
