A Baltimore grand jury has formally brought charges against all six police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died last month while in police custody, allowing the prosecution to move forward.
The officers are scheduled to appear before a judge on 2 July.
Marilyn Mosby, the Baltimore City state prosecutor, held a press conference on Thursday to announce the revised charges against the officers. She said an independent investigation had turned up additional information in the case that gave the grand jury significant cause to indict the officers.
The most significant charge is a second-degree depraved-heart murder against Officer Caesar Goodson , which carries a possible 30-year prison sentence. Other officers were charged with involuntary manslaughter (10 years) and manslaughter by vehicle (10 years). See a list of full charges here .
The other officers charged are Lieutenant Brian Rice, Sergeant Alicia White, Officer Garrett Miller, Officer William Porter and Officer Edward Nero.

The charges handed down by the grand jury differed from the original charges only in that false imprisonment charges were replaced by reckless endangerment charges.
Mr Gray died from spinal injuries while in police custody, which set off days of protests that devolved into riots.
