Income equality: See how long until women could be paid equal to men in the US
Report looks at the disparity in pay between genders in the US
If income equality continues to progress at the rate it has since 1960, women in the US will not make as much money as men until 2058, according to a report released on Thursday that looked into income in the US.
The Institute for Women’s Policy Research found that even the most progressive state is still decades away from income equality for men and women. Florida, which has the smallest income disparity in the US, won’t break even until 2038, the report projects.
Five US states are projected to carry income disparity into the 22nd Century and Wyoming won't have equal pay until 2159, the report says.
The report, “Status of Women in the States,” examined several factors related to employment and earnings: wages, wage ratio, labour force participation rate and share of all workers in upper-level jobs.
