Police investigate report of shot being fired at Walter Reed military hospital

Police have not confirmed that a shot was fired

Police say there is no evidence of gunshots and no injuries reported at a major military hospital outside the US capital after reports that someone heard a gun shot.

The facility had been placed on lock down while police and federal agents completed their probe.

Police say the call came in at 10.48 a.m. Monday. Employees at the facility, located on the outskirts of Washington DC, were told to shelter in place via a text alert.

Montgomery County Police say they have not confirmed that a shot was fired, according to NBC.

The Associated Press said police spokesman Natasha Plotnikov said an emergency hotline caller reported hearing one shot.

On Thursday morning, employees were told to shelter in place at the Washington Navy Yard, where the initial report of a shooting triggered vivid memories of a 2013 deadly mass shooting at the naval installation.
