This is the moment a laser-guided bomb struck a moving speedboat in the Gulf of Mexico.

These extraordinary images were taken by the American Air Force earlier this month. They show a military test involving a supersonic bomber known as the B-1B 'Lancer' dropping a GBU-10 bomb on a small boat which was empty at the time.

The test was carried out on the 4 September by the 337th Test and Evaluation Squadron to gain information on the aircraft and develop its capabilities.

A total of six munitions were dropped as part of the test, including a the laser-guided GBU-54 bomb weighing 500 pounds and 500 and 2,000-pound munitions.
